Thus, following the above mentioned set pattern, Spider-Man 3 comes out both guns blazing. However, some of the bullets it shoots out end up to be nothing more than blanks. Metaphors aside, let us get down to the point.
The Plot and the Gameplay
Basically, Spider-Man 3 has little to do with the eponymous movie. In fact, the only thing in common would be some recurring villains and certain situations. Nevertheless, the game takes a completely different course, as far as the plot is concerned.
Sometimes, certain things from the movie are mentioned, and some scenes have the goal of replaying the storyline from the big screen. However, during these moments, those who have not seen the movie are likely to have no clue about what is happening. Moreover, many unique missions which take place in the game are so badly explained that you will be left utterly confused. Thus, the first minus goes to the plot and the storytelling sequence, since it is far from concise and explanatory.
As for the gameplay and the very feeling of the game, it gets pretty amazing at some points. Marvelous scenery and building textures are bound to take your breath away, as you move through the city shooting your webs and flying around. The graphics are stunning and will be quite pleasant for your eyes.
Still, there is a major flaw regarding graphics. Namely, once you start moving through scenery cramped with details and graphically demanding object, you will most probably get annoyed by the choppy frames, skipping and making the game run much less smoothly.
However, once it comes to statics and fighting, Spider-Man 3 game is more than awesome. The fights are well realized, the action is all around since you have many side quests and secondary missions to keep you busy and allow you to achieve some extra points and discoveries. Alas, again, there is something which will stand in the way. The fighting system, regarding the commands, is quite simple and, thereby boring. Your encounters with the enemies will come down to pressing two action buttons repeatedly, until your attention levels drop below zero and you realize that you have slept through half of the action.
Overall Impression
Spider-Man 3 will amuse you at certain points of the game. It is flashy and fun, while at the same time being repetitive and boring. So, if you are a true fan of the series, you may want to skip this one and give Spider-Man 2 another round.
