Batman Revolutions Game Review
Batman Revolutions is an unexpected surprise in a sea of Batman themed games. This game in it's simplicity has some of the finest gameplay elements in a flash game. Any flash game player, whether or not they are a fan of the Batman franchise, will find something to appreciate about this game. This game has no impressive graphics but the gameplay element and the fun that will be had playing this game is perfect to pass time and get some entertainment in the process.
Batman Revolutions looks at first like a game dedicated to the more modern iteration of the Batman franchise with it's darker tones. It is, however more committed to the classic Batman image; the campy look with the short ears. It is nothing to be annoyed about and it wouldn't change your view of the game, no matter which is your favourite iteration. This game actually starts with a story! It seems odd but many flash games lack, a decent introduction. The introduction and game directions are a level above decent introduction, showing some well made features. The music is epic and it instigates playability. The game's image is very simple and kind of campy -but it gives you something to look forward to. This gives you motivation to continue playing.
The game is best described as a platformer. You run to different platforms and attack or dodge the invading aliens. As Batman you collect the items to use on your method of transport and also collect game elements such as health, shields and weapons. The game sports the usual directional controls with attack key(space) and special weapon key(x) where you can throw batarangs and other available weapons you possess. That's another thing with this game, it gives you various ways to attack. It certainly feels much deeper than many others available right now. The game grants you four lives with a meter with units for each life.
This game is so positive it's hard to list the negatives. But there are. The graphics could be just a bit better. It looks too simple at times. The aliens barely look like aliens. The game physics need detailing. Especially on the edges of the platforms. Sometimes, you think you made a jump, and no, you didn't. Too bad. The aliens are unlimited too, so you better keep on moving! The game gives a rather inspirational message when all lives are lost though, if you're too bummed out after all your lives ended. Another way to motivate you to play again. Pretty good.
This game is one of the better flash games available right now. If you like platformers, I believe you will love this game. It heralds to a time when simple platformers first were introduced. Graphics were not it's focus, but fun was. Despite it's simple gameplay, it is one of the deeper games out there. Instead of doing the same action over and over , it gives you different actions to complete a level. For someone who wants a simple game that is interesting enough to get you hooked, Batman Revolutions is that game.
